We are ...

… the "hidden" partners.

Our Mentors will be profiled in this section on a rotating basis. They have "wife" experience they are willing to share. Feel free to email them and get to know them. They are here for all of us!

Hi, I'm Alice — My husband and I were married in 1974, and he joined the Department in 1977. We were high school sweethearts so we have been together for almost 39 years. We have a son and a daughter in their early 20's, who both live at home and are attending college.

The last 6 1/2 years I have been employed at the Los Angeles Police Memorial Foundation, as the assistant to the Executive Director. We are sometimes referred to as the "widows and orphans fund". Before this job, I was a stay-at-home mom, actively involved in school and church events. Our whole family loves hockey, both roller and ice and we spend as much time as possible at the beach.

Hi my name is Laurene - My husband has been a Los Angeles Police Officer for 23 years.

My husband and I met in 1986, after dating for two years we were married in 1988. We have three children, two of which are still in high school. I was lucky enough to be a stay at home mom for many years. I am now a Real Estate Agent, which allows me to have a flexible schedule to still be there for my family.

I was once told that the "Real Back for an Police Officer is his wife" . This is so true! Being an Officer's wife is not an easy job, but there is no other job more important to me than supporting my husband. I am always asked, "How to you do it?" or "Don't you worry every time he leaves the house to go to work? My answer is simple, "It's just a job". Please don't misunderstand, being a Police Officer is a very dangerous job, but as an Officer's Wife you need to put things in perspective to keep functioning for yourself, as well as your husband and your kids. This is an overwhelming job at times. It is my goal to support other wives in the department by sharing my experiences as an "Officer's Wife".
